About
I am a contemporary mad hatter. My works are period inspired and modernized to embellish the fashionistas of today. I draw inspiration from the rebellious flapper women of the 20′s and the Classic Era of Hollywood’s (1927-1939) silver screen starlets.
I graduated Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a Bachelors in Fine Art and have been working as a bespoke hat maker for three years. I learned to block felt and buckram into classic shapes from two professional milliners; one in a classroom setting and the other through friendship and skill sharing. Thank you to both mentors. I also have my hand in the basic repair and re-blocking of hats.
On the supremacy of beauty: There’s nothing intellectual about a hat. It’s just beauty and elegance. I don’t care about making anything that isn’t beautiful.
-Philip Tracy, The National Post.com
From a cap to a full-on fascinator, the hat is the accent, the exclamation mark, the fishing note that punctuated the whole look.
-John Galliano, Hats an Anthology by Stephen Jones
I am now a Custom Hattmaker and merchant for the amazing company Goorin Brothers Hat Shops, a company that has been family owned and operated for four generations and knows more than a thing or two about the bold tradition of hat making.
